The Ochi 1 of Isuochi Dies At 88.

The Ochi 1 of Isuochi Ancient Kingdom, Umunneochi LGA of Abia State, Eze Godwin Irononso Ezekwesiri, has passed away.

The revered leader, who lived to the age of 88, was instated as king in 1974, becoming the inaugural ruler of the Isuochi Ancient Kingdom, and he presided for an impressive 51 years. Throughout his reign, he fostered harmony among the various communities that constitute Isuochi.



His passing has been verified by his son, Ikedi Ezekwesiri, a former member of the state legislature.

In response to the monarch’s demise, Governor Alex Otti expressed deep sorrow, lamenting that the cultural leader departed at a moment when the youth could greatly benefit from his wisdom and extensive knowledge.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, Otti remarked that the late Ezekwesiri was a distinguished elder statesman who made a significant impact on his community and the broader state.

“The Chief Executive of Abia recalls that Eze Ezekwesiri utilized his more than fifty years on the throne to positively influence lives while ensuring tranquility, unity, and safety in his kingdom specifically and Umunneochi as a whole. He prays for God to grant him eternal rest.”
