Iran Urges The UN Security Council To Act Against US and Israel

Iran insists that the UN Security Council acknowledges Israel and the United States as the entities accountable for the twelve-day conflict.

This is articulated in a letter addressed to the UN Secretary-General that was released on Sunday.

We formally urge the Security Council to recognize that the Israeli administration and the United States instigated the hostilities and consequently hold them responsible for the aftermath,” states the correspondence from Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Iran is seeking reparations and damages from the war.

Israel initiated its strikes against Iran on the evening of June 13, declaring the intention to halt Iran’s nuclear weapons development. In retaliation, Iran launched drone and missile strikes against Israel. After a nine-day conflict, the United States Air Force and Navy executed a series of strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites. Shortly thereafter, a ceasefire was established, with both parties proclaiming victory.

Neither Iran nor Israel holds a position on the Security Council, of which the United States is a permanent member.
