The African nations of Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso are poised to disclose the identities of high-ranking Nigerian politicians implicated in aiding bandit factions operating in Nigeria’s North-West.
This information comes from intelligence agencies within these nations. Security expert Zagazola Makama reported that officials from the security agencies revealed they already possess the names of certain politicians believed to be facilitating support to these criminal enterprises.
Moreover, they mentioned that several individuals responsible for supplying weapons to the bandits have been apprehended, and investigations are currently in progress.
The agencies indicated that this initiative is part of ongoing regional efforts aimed at dismantling transnational criminal networks that exacerbate insecurity in West Africa. This development surfaces amid increasing cooperation among Sahelian countries concerning security, particularly when addressing armed groups and the illegal trafficking of arms across borders.
