The Federal Government has started accepting applications for the 2026 Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Overseas Scholarship Scheme. Nigerian students who are pursuing postgraduate studies can apply to study in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Malaysia.

FG has announced the start of applications for 2026 Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Scholarships overseas.”According to the statement on the scholarship board’s website, the scheme is for MSc and PhD students in fields related to the oil and gas industry. The benefits include tuition fees, return flights, accommodation, living allowances, health insurance, and bench fees where needed.The PTDF statement said, “The 2026 Overseas MSc and PhD Scholarships offer access to top-quality training, research facilities, and global expertise while building local talent in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
PhD STUDENTS ;
For PhD students in the UK, the scholarship involves a split-site arrangement. Research will be done between the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Kaduna (CPESK), and selected UK universities like Robert Gordon University, University of Strathclyde, and University of Portsmouth.The agency said the scholarships are very competitive.”Only candidates who show excellent performance and are well-suited will be considered,” the statement said.
PTDF SCHOLARSHIP MODE OF ACCESS ;
It added that applicants will be assessed based on their academic background, research proposals, membership in professional groups, and the relevance of their studies to the oil and gas industry.
PTDF SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY:
Eligibility for MSc applicants requires ;
- a minimum of Second Class Lower (2.2) in their first degree (or 2.1),
- completion of the NYSC program,
- computer skills,
- five O’Level credits including English and Mathematics.
Eligibility for PhD applicants ;
- PhD applicants must also provide a research proposal of up to five pages that details the objectives, methods, and data collection plan.”
NOTE : All applicants must check that their National Identity Number (NIN) is verified before applying. Submitting multiple applications or fake documents will result in disqualification,” the PTDF statement added.
