Iran accuses the UAE of supporting US airstrikes and demands reparations for war damages, signaling rising Middle East tensions.
Iran Demands Reparations from UAE Over Alleged Role in US Airstrikes
As tensions in the Middle East intensify, Iran has formally called on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to pay reparations, accusing the Gulf state of supporting United States-led military strikes on its territory.
In a letter submitted to the United Nations Secretary-General, Iran’s Permanent Representative, Amir Saeid Iravani, condemned the UAE’s alleged cooperation with US forces. According to reports from The Jerusalem Post, Tehran views the move as a breach of international law.
Iran Accuses UAE of Violating International Law
Iravani argued that allowing foreign forces to use UAE territory to launch attacks against Iran amounts to an “internationally wrongful act.” He emphasized that such actions create legal responsibility under international law, holding the UAE accountable for its involvement.
The Iranian government insists that Abu Dhabi must provide full compensation for damages resulting from the ongoing conflict. This includes both economic losses and the broader human impact suffered by Iranian citizens.
Call for Compensation Over War Damages
Tehran’s demand goes beyond symbolic protest, seeking reparations for what it describes as “material and moral damages.” The move signals a shift toward legal and diplomatic escalation, alongside the ongoing military tensions.
Late Security Chief Criticizes Muslim Nations
The diplomatic push follows a final public message from Iran’s former security chief, Ali Larijani, released shortly before his reported assassination.
In his statement addressed to the global Muslim community, Larijani criticized regional Islamic countries for failing to support Iran during the conflict. He noted that, aside from limited political gestures, most nations remained silent.
“Except for rare cases, no Islamic nation stood alongside the Iranian people,” he stated.
Despite this, Larijani claimed that Iran had managed to withstand pressure from its adversaries through internal resilience.
Iran Reaffirms Resistance Strategy
Larijani reiterated Iran’s commitment to its longstanding geopolitical stance, referencing its opposition to both the United States and Israel.
“Iran will continue on the path of resistance against the ‘Great Satan’ and the ‘Lesser Satan,’” he declared, underscoring the country’s determination to maintain its current strategy regardless of consequences.
Rising Tensions Signal Broader Consequences
As the conflict continues, Iran’s latest demands highlight a tougher diplomatic posture. The message from Tehran is clear: countries accused of enabling military operations against it may face both legal action and financial liability.
