Prof. Chris Piwuna, a consultant psychiatrist affiliated with the University of Jos Teaching Hospital, has been chosen as the new leader of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
He was appointed during the 23rd National Delegates Congress held in Benin on Sunday.
Prof. Piwuna, who also serves as the Dean of Student Affairs at the University of Jos, takes over from Victor Osodeke, a Professor of Soil Science at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State.
In this election, Prof. Piwuna faced off against Prof. Adamu Babayo from the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, with Piwuna coming out on top.
