Last year, megachurch leader, Bishop TD Jakes experienced a slight heart attack during a sermon at his Potter’s House Church in Dallas, Texas.
In November, Jakes initiated a defamation countersuit against two men who alleged he engaged in sexual misconduct.
The individuals claimed Jakes assaulted them decades prior when they were adolescents. They sought $6 million from Pastor Jakes, “to settle this issue quickly and privately.”
Pastor Jakes refuted the accusations. He suffered a minor heart attack soon thereafter.
On Sunday, Bishop TD Jakes announced his decision to resign as senior pastor of the Potter’s House Church in Dallas. He handed over the megachurch’s leadership to his daughter, Sarah Jakes Roberts, 36, and her spouse, Touré Roberts, 51.

“This signifies legacy,” Pastor Jakes stated. “Not merely because they’re family, but because they’re compassionate. They’ve immersed themselves into the essence of this church for years.”
“I’m thankful, I’m privileged,” Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts expressed. “As your daughter, I’m thrilled you’re going to have some rest.”
Bishop Jakes, 67, established the Potter’s House Church in 1996.
The renowned pastor indicated that while he is stepping back, he will continue to engage in community work.
