Definition of Terms
Pruritus – unpleasant, uncomfortable and irritating sensation that provokes the desire to scratch. Severe itching of the skin.
Erythema – red skin rash that is caused by injured or Infected superficial blood capillaries.
Malaise – a feeling of being unwell, physically or emotionally. It could be a feeling discomfort or pain and it is the first sign of an infection or disease.
Pyrexia – a dangerous increase in the body temperature of a person beyond the normal range . It is also known as fever.
Myalgia – simply known as muscle pain . It is characterized by chronic pain, stiffness & tenderness of the muscle. It is one of the syndrome that develops as a result of viral infections. It can be acute ( short term ) or chronic ( long-term ).
Arthralgia – a pain in one or more joint. The pain can either be – throbbing, dull ,burning , sharp , or stabbing . The pain has a varying range of intensity ( mild or severe ).
Macroglossia – a condition where the tongue is inflamed and show excessive swelling . It causes speech impairment and inability to eat.
