French Montana Moroccan-born US-raised rapper, has donated 500 canoes to the Makoko community in Lagos, Nigeria.

Makoko is a densely populated waterfront slum known for its stilted and floating structures situated along the Lagos lagoon.

Some weeks ago, Montana shot the music video for his song ‘Wish U Well’ featuring Swae Lee, the US rapper, and Lojay, the Nigerian singer, in Makoko.

He attracted alot of criticism from his Nigerian fans for choosing the slum location for his music video shoot.

In a recent statement, the Bronx-raised rapper said he will be donating 500 canoes to the community which served as the primary location for the music video.

He said that local craftsmen, in collaboration with SALXCO, Gamma, and Swae Lee, will construct approximately six boats weekly, with the goal of reaching 500 canoes by December.
