The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has identified 585 counterfeit A-level credentials in the year 2025 alone, with four individuals already arrested by law enforcement.
The board’s Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, revealed this information during a private meeting with the board’s staff.
A record of the discussions was published in the JAMB weekly newsletter.
“The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has detected approximately 585 counterfeit A-level credentials in just 2025. This shocking announcement was made by the Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, during a virtual assembly with the board’s employees on April 2, 2025, in preparation for the 2025 Mock-UTME and UTME.
“He denounced the troubling increase of counterfeit A/L credentials, asserting that it was to combat this issue that the Nigeria Integrated Post-Secondary Education Data System was created as a platform for overseeing and gathering information pertaining to post-secondary education within the nation.

“The Registrar also indicated that there have been reports from some CBT centers regarding the extortion of candidates for services that should be free, noting that this astonishing disclosure is detrimental to the integrity of the system. He urged the staff to remain dedicated to their responsibilities and to avoid engaging in actions that could compromise the Board’s integrity.”
