Ohanaeze Ndigbo alleges INEC Chairman Betrayed Nigerians.

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has alleged the INEC chairman Yakubu Mahmood hugely betrayed Nigerians as the Saturday presidential and NASS Elections were rigged in many parts of the country.

In a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Dr. Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia, Ohanaeze recalled allegations by the Labour Party that some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC compromised the electoral process.

While thanking Nigerians for the massive turnout on Saturday, the apex socio-political organization in Igbo land said Nigerians trooped out for the election based on the confidence they had on the BVAS.

The statement, however, warned against any move to rig the election which would be a betrayal of the trust Nigerians had on the electoral body.

Ohanaeze called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the International Community to prevail on the INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu not to manipulate the results

The statement reads in part, “Professor Yakubu is reminded that Nigerians went into this election based on his assurances that the deployment of BVAS by INEC was a perfect antidote to electoral malpractices in Nigeria.

“It will therefore be very unfortunate if what is going on across Nigeria is allowed to continue. It is a betrayal of trust which the millions of Nigerians will surely revolt against.

“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.

“Mr. Peter Obi has often insisted that the Almighty God is only using him as a vessel to rescue and lift Nigeria from its current tailspin. In other words, the victory is yours and must be defended by all.

“We call on President Muhammadu Buhari and the International community to prevail on Mahmood Yakubu not to lend hand to the thickening Frankenstein monster that first devours its creator by respecting the will of the people”.
