The Truth About Wendy Williams’ Condition: Facts vs. Rumors

Wendy Williams has succumbed to her struggle with dementia, as indicated by fresh filings from her guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, in a New York court.

These documents, acquired by The U.S. Sun, assert that Williams “has been stricken with early-onset dementia and, consequently, has become mentally impaired and permanently incapacitated.”

The filing elaborates, “In January 2022, upon noticing a series of alarming incidents concerning [Wendy’s] wellbeing and financial situation, Wells Fargo took the extraordinary measure of commencing a guardianship proceeding independently in the Supreme Court of New York, New York County (the ‘Guardianship Proceeding’), aiming to request the court’s appointment of an independent guardian for [Wendy’s] financial dealings.”

A judge has conferred legal guardianship to safeguard Williams’ financial interests. The announcement regarding her deteriorating condition arose amid a continuing legal dispute over the Lifetime TV documentary “Where is Wendy Williams?” The film portrayed the former daytime TV figure grappling with alcohol dependency, along with health and monetary challenges.

A lawsuit alleged that the TV documentary took advantage of Williams, asserting that she lacked the capacity to agree to the series due to her medical issues. The latest filing petitioned the court to redact (suppress) details about her “health, family ties, and finances” to maintain her confidentiality, according to the news source.

Williams received a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia and primary progressive aphasia in 2023. Her mental health struggles were publicly disclosed earlier this year.
