Salome Adaidu, the young woman reportedly murdered by gospel artist Timileyin Ajayi over the weekend in Nasarawa State, has been laid to rest.
Ajayi was detained in Nasarawa State after allegedly being discovered with the dismembered head of Adaidu, hidden inside a plastic bag.
The horrific event is said to have taken place on Sunday, January 12, in the Agwan Sarki area of Orozo, a community adjacent to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Authorities were notified via an intelligence tip-off, which directed security forces to an unfinished structure where Ajayi was captured.
During questioning, Ajayi, who also brands himself as a motivational influencer on TikTok, admitted to killing the victim whom he alleged he had a romantic relationship with for a year.
The late Adaidu’s body was laid to rest, as depicted in a video featuring a group of men setting the coffin down while the sounds of sorrowful weeping echoed in the background.
ICYMI : UPDATE FROM SALOME ADAIDU ‘S FAMILY & FRIENDS
Abigail Simon, a lifelong companion of 24-year-old Salome Eleojo Adaidu, shared with Vanguard: “The last sighting of her was on Saturday evening (Jan. 11) at her home in Nyanya, Abuja.”
“On Sunday evening, a call came in around 6:30 PM informing us that Salome had been involved in an accident and was in a dire state.”
Simon’s narrative unfolds as she recounts how Salome’s older sister hurried to the scene, only to find that the reality was significantly more grave than what was previously conveyed.
“When I reached out to her elder sister for more details, she told me Salome was dead,” Simon relayed.
“I didn’t hear from her until around 10:30 PM when I finally arrived at their place, and that’s when she disclosed the true events.”
While the details surrounding her demise are murky, Simon asserts that the family is unaware of any romantic ties between Salome and the man allegedly linked to the incident.
“We have never encountered him, nor did we hear of him before this incident. We firmly believe she had no relationship with him,” Simon underscored.
Salome, who embarked on a journey in Library and Information Science at Kogi State University, had experienced the loss of her father in May 2024, leaving her family in mourning.
Her mother, although still living, is reported to be battling emotional distress following this heartbreaking loss.
The family is now pursuing justice and urging Nigerians to assist in uncovering the truth behind Salome’s death.
Simon, a steadfast friend of the family, expressed profound grief and outrage: “We need justice for her. We need Nigerians to help us secure justice.”
Patience Adaidu, the sister of the deceased, has also called upon Nigerians to engage and ensure her sister’s case is addressed.
As reported by Sahara Reporters, Patience indicated that the Orozo Police Station in the New Karshi Division, Abuja, where the case was first lodged, has been remiss in providing investigative updates.
“The officers at the Orozo Police Station are withholding information from us,” she stated, adding that there are hints that the case might be moved to Keffi, Nasarawa State, despite the crime taking place in Abuja.
Patience decisively rejected online rumors that suggested her sister had a romantic involvement with Ajayi. She stressed that their family had no prior acquaintance with the suspect, let alone any knowledge of an alleged romantic connection between him and her sister.
Patience conveyed to the publication; according to Sahara Reporters: “She left for the house on Saturday, indicating she was visiting a friend named Maxwell. Then on Sunday, I received a notification while I was on my way back home, informing me of her accident in Uke. Upon our arrival, we found it was not merely an accident. It was more akin to a brutal murd£r. Someone had abducted her and ended her life.
“He dismembered her b0dy. When we viewed her remains, we were at a loss for how to respond. We had to bury her nearby. We departed and returned the next day, Monday.
“That was when the police began to provide some details, implying that someone had murd£red her. They took me to the suspect’s residence, but I have not been granted permission to see or interrogate him. There has been no communication or clarification shared with me so far.
“They merely stated that she was k!lled. I’m unaware of where he picked her up, or if he was actually a friend of my sister, because our family has never encountered that individual before. We have never heard his name in our lives.
“I have no clue how my sister met him, how they crossed paths, or what transpired. Perhaps she visited a friend, and something transpired there—we just don’t know. All we grasp is that she’s de@d. They mutilated her remains, removing her head, hands, legs, and toes.
“They even severed her arm into five segments, akin to butchering meat for sale piece by piece. Thank goodness for the motorcyclist who transported the man with my sister’s h£@d and noticed blood dripping. He intercepted the man and raised the alarm.
“When the man was apprehended, he gathered a crowd. He claimed he would pay N100 million to the police, but the officers did not accept.”
In the meantime, several Facebook users, identifying as friends of Salome, have corroborated that Timileyin Ajayi and Salome were not in a relationship.
