The Federal Executive Council of Nigeria has approved a 14-day paternity leave for all male federal civil servants in the country.
The information was made known to some State House correspondents on Wednesday by the Head of Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, after the just concluded virtual Executive Council meeting monitored by Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Dr. Folasade said the paternity leave is to create room for proper father to newborn bond , irrespective of the child being a natural-born or adopted, Most importantly at the preliminary stages of the child’s life. Dr. Folasade also explained that fathers of adopted babies who are less than 4 months will also be given the privileges’ to the paternity leave.
