Michael Jordan is fuming after fabricated political endorsement news circulated widely on Monday.
A news on X.com on Sunday insinuated that Jordan was supporting ex-president Donald Trump in the contest against Vice President Kamala Harris.
A community note attached to the announcement states: “There’s no proof substantiating this assertion. As recently as Oct. 31, Michael Jordan hadn’t endorsed either Trump or Harris.”
Jordan’s representatives emphatically refuted the notion that the NBA icon endorsed Trump in advance of this week’s presidential election.
In a declaration to DailyMail.com, Jordan’s representatives stated: “There is absolutely no veracity to the assertion that Michael Jordan has made an endorsement in the presidential race.”
LeBron James and various other celebrities have supported Harris. However, Jordan has historically steered clear of endorsing any politician seeking public office.
Jordan, a six-time NBA champion, is known for his discretion and refrains from commenting on political or cultural matters.
He has previously addressed his foundation and the charities he backs, including Make A Wish.
During a 1990 Senate competition in his home state of North Carolina, Jordan famously chose not to publicly endorse Democrat Harvey Gantt.
Instead, Jordan famously proclaimed: “Republicans buy sneakers, too.”
