Oct 1 : FG Reportedly Strikes Out Parade

The national government has declared the cancellation of  the procession that was originally planned to commemorate the nation’s 65th independence anniversary on Oct 1. Segun Imohiosen, the information and public relations  director in the office of the secretary of the federation (OSGF),  shared this update in a statement issued on Monday. The national government expressed regret for the disruption caused by this cancellation. “The cancellation does not in any way diminish the importance of this significant anniversary, and the government is  steadfast in its commitment to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th year of independence with honor and zeal,” the statement  asserts “Therefore, all other events scheduled for the Independence Anniversary will proceed as planned. “The National Government values the understanding,  support, and cooperation of all Nigerians, the diplomatic  corps, and invited guests, and encourages Nigerians to back the reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in the  endeavor to make Nigeria an even greater nation.” The procession and presidential address were set to occur on Wednesday to celebrate the country’s liberation from colonial rule in 1960. Previously, the national government had designated Wednesday as a public holiday in honor of the independence day celebration.
